UNIQUE ALPACA JEWELRY

Our alpaca jewelry is unique. It is not the alpaca silver that comes from Peru. We hand make our jewelry using alpaca fiber or sterling silver with alpacas as the theme or a combination of both.

Below is a picture of our knotted alpaca necklace.

The one of a kind necklace is made with felted alpaca fiber and wood beads with silver spacers. The clasp is hand made with a wire wrapping technique. See our hand made clasp in the picture below.

This necklace is a very easy project. Just felt a rope and tie it a couple of inches from one end, add bead and spacers, tie it again, make another knot an inch or an inch and a half away from the last knot and continue with the bead, spacers, and knotting. Once the necklace is as long as you like it then you finish the ends with some basic wire wrappping.

The hardest part of making the knotted necklace is getting your felt rope even so your knots are the same size. If one knot is smaller, your bead and spacers will not stay in place. Also, make sure you get beads with large holes so the felted rope will fit through them. You want your felt rope to be a nice size, not too skinny or too thick.

We have combined wire wrapping with our alpaca fiber for some truly fun and fashionable alpaca jewelry. We took a wire wrapping class so we could make our jewelry with expertise. If you haven't tried wire wrapping, it's a blast and you can be so creative with your jewelry.

We have, also, developed a way to make very consistent felted beads that we use in our jewelry.
