Fabulous Felt Ropes

Felt Ropes are easy to make. Of course, if you are making them from alpaca fiber, they will be fabulously soft. Because they are felted, they are very strong and durable. Why on earth would you want to make one, though?

Making ropes out of felt can lead you to all sorts of interesting things to make. Jewelry is at the top of the list. You can use ropes made from raw wool to create very unique necklaces. They can, also, be made into fun bracelets.

Felted ropes can be used as purse straps. Leave the ends of your rope unfelted so you can attach it to the purse by wet felting the rope to the purse.

You can make hair accessories. Rope scrunchies are easy to make and fun for kids to wear (adults, too!).

Ropes of felt can be used as tie strings to tie up hand felted slippers.

You can use felted ropes as embellishments on other flat felted projects.

Make them thick and short and use them as arms and legs for felt figures.

Tie several together and make a tassel to tie up curtains.

I'm sure you can think up other possibilities that aren't mentioned here. You can make them long, short, thick, thin, or multi-colored to suit whatever you need for your project. Just experiment a little with the fiber.
