Needle Felted Animals and other Felted CharactersOur needle felted animals and characters are made from alpaca wool produced by alpacas raised on our farm. Each art doll is unique and handmade from clean carded alpaca fleece. Our animals are very well cared for and a joy to own. By creating our needle felted dolls, we are making use of the fabulous fiber our animals produce so that others can have a small piece of these gentle animals. No animal is harmed to obtain the fleece (maybe just a little embarrased at being naked) and are actually made healthier by shearing them to prevent heat stress in the summer. Some of the fleece is hand dyed (so far we have not been able to raise green, blue, pink, etc. alpacas) for a greater range of colors for our characters. We use only prime blanket fleece for our felt dolls so you are getting the best fiber from our animals. The handmade characters are created by using a technique called needle felting. Needle felting requires a lot of patience as each character is made by making several hundred to thousands of needle pokes to felt the fiber. Many hours are involved in creating our characters. We take pride in creating a very firm product. Some needle felters do not felt long enough to make their creations solid. There is no sewing involved, so there are no seams. Our felted animals and characters are one-of-a-kind. We may make similar characters but none will be exactly the same. You will own a unique handmade character. Each felted character comes with a certificate of authenticity and a photo of the alpaca that provided the fleece for felting. We design all needle felted animals and characters ourself. No pattern is ever used to make our characters. That is why two felt dolls will never be exactly alike. They are not machine stamped. So, please don't ask us to make an exact copy of a character. We want each character to remain unique. We keep a photo of each character so we will not repeat it exactly. Here are just a few of the comments we received while selling our characters on ebay:
Our characters are collectible, not meant as a childs toy. Some characters have an internal wire frame so they can be posed. Prices depend on amount of material used and time. The larger the needle felted creation, the more needling time invested. If you order one of our characters and are not happy, you may return the character in its original condition and we will return your money minus shipping charges.
