Felt inlays are a method of making a design from a pre-felt (also known as a soft felt or a half felt) and felting it into other raw fiber to create a finished felted pattern.

A felt cutout is a method of cutting a design out of your felt to reveal an inner contrasting color of felt.

The equipment needed to making inlays and cutouts is simple and inexpensive. If you have raw wool, you will need something to card the wool, either a drum carder or hand carders. If you purchase your wool, it is best to buy batts, but roving will work, too.
